Peel day HMHB

I don't want to upset anyone, but at the time I just didn't
like the whole C86 style. This includes HMHB of course.
In fact I didn't listen to Peel at all in that period. A lot
of the groups seemed to be uninspired Smiths bandwagon-hoppers
and I didn't even like the Smiths (apart from "The Queen ..."
which is an all-time classic !).
Maybe I was spoilt with the fantastic indie/alternative music
from the period 1977 to 1983, which innovated, mixed and matched,
and challenged. It's been nice to hear groups recently who have
obviously been highly influenced by Ultrafoxx, Talking Heads,
early Simple Minds, Magazine, JD, Echo, Teardrops etc.
There were exceptions from 83 of course, the main one being
Cocteau Twins, whose "Victorialand" and "Heaven or LA" must
rank as being amongst the most original, emotional and relaxing
albums ever made.
