Earlier than that - mid-81 onwards; then variously for the next decade  
depending on whether Karl Burns was in the band or not.
 
They were truly fantastic with two drummers - two great memories are  opening 
at Fagins in Manchester with Fiery Jack; the other was an encore of  The 
Classical and Fantastic Life at the Hammersmith Palais the next year.  

Another 2-drummer band was the mid-80s version of Pere Ubu, when most  of the 
original band rejoined and effectively "merged" with David Thomas' solo  band.
