Of course he is irrelevant!  Speaking as a once-bigtime 
Smiffs fan, Morrissey has had his time, and should quietly go 
back to the States and stay there.  

His best time was very great indeed, but didn’t last very 
long - the cracks were detectable even as early as ‘The Queen 
Is Dead’.  That was TWENTY YEARS AGO!  

Since then it’s been mostly downhill.  Scoring NME’s ‘best 
band ever’ vote (or whatever it was) was momentous, and - he 
practically admitted - clearly the reason that his career has 
temporarily taken off again, but please…..no more not-very-
good whining ( (c) Beavis & Butt-head), and no more really-
very-dull musicianship…  

Though he tried hard, the Man Himself looked uncomfortable 
and either bored or slightly embarrassed about it all last 
night on UK TV while playing live on Jools Holland.  His band 
chugged through ‘There Is A Light’ like they were under 
sedation.  Peel gamely referred to a ‘return to form’ during 
the previous week, but I think he was just being charitable.  

Enough!  There’s so much more going on.  Melt Banana – yes!
