About 40 minutes into the show he is describing The Misunderstood's concert. Totally OTT, but as a piece of "Peel's Passion for Music" it can't be beat. He actually says " I would give up my entire record collection for a recording of Glen Campbell's guitar solo that night". What is interesting is that of all the 100's of bands Peel has championed The Misunderstood received the least acclaim. As he says, "Should have been as big as the Beatles..." ----- Original Message ----- From: stroutman@... I understand that the DVD version has been made available. But my main question concerns the soundtrack album: was it ever officially released and, if so, by whom? (Dave Chapman) Date: Sat, 17 May 2003 09:34:46 +0100 Subject: Peel shows on offer Message-ID: <3EC5F426.2070600@...> Hello list, I've been recording Peel's show from Radio One (and the World Service) since September 2002 (with a small number of omissions due to satellite dish problems and human error) and would like to make these available to people on this list. I'm recording them from Radio One's digital satellite (DVB-S) feed, where they are broadcast as a 192kbit/s MPEG-1, Layer II ("MP2") audio stream. I use a PC DVB-S card to record the original compressed data to my hard disk. These files are about 180MB for each show, and can be played with nearly all "mp3" players (including most portable MP3 players - I use an Archos MP3 Jukebox to listen to the shows). If people are interested in a small number of specific shows, and have other recordings to trade, then email me off-list and I am sure we can arrange something. I would also be willing to offer a small number of sets of my complete collection on DVD+R in return for "blanks and postage". i.e. you send me some blank DVD+Rs and a return envelope with the correct postage, and I'll burn the shows and send them back. Obviously, this will be quite time consuming for me, so I would prefer to send the DVDs to other listeners who have DVD recorders (or CD recorders) and would be willing to make a similar offer to this list. Please let me know if you are interested. Regards, Dave From leohilarious@... Sat May 17 15:40:58 2003 From: leohilarious@... If anyone could help, I'd be very grateful - I've got a pretty big trade-list of bootlegs, assorted rare things by a few recent indie bands (Idlewild b-sides, Kinesis demos, etc) or could offer blanks & postage. Yep always two hours. The headline set will usually be 40 minutes to 1 hour depending really on how much material the band have (at what stage of their career it was recorded). Consequently the other three are usually about 20 minutes but could be as long as 30 minutes especially if one of the others is a session rather than a gig. -- Jan From robstrong@...
