Well I was asking because I'm soon to visit the UK from Atlanta, Sunday actually, for about 3 weeks. Am taking the wife and the son (11) and daughter (6) too. Even though we are doing nearly all of it on frequent flyer points and relatives and hostels, it will still wipe me out temporarily financially... but i don't care. Not in the least. The children need to see the world, and #1 son is likely to begin hating me in just a few years, right on schedule. I packed up and went to China a few years back... You just do it ya know -- why wait -- then you return and eat macaroni and cheese for a few weeks and you are back on track. We'll take in London then Bristol, then over to Limerick to research the family tree. After that, and this is where my dull travel news connects with this list, the family is honored to have been invited out to Peel acres. So on Thursday June 21's show listen for the sound of me snickering in the background. I will be carrying two rare and fragile Lightnin Hopkins 78's on GoldStar, a regional Texas label, which will make fine Pig's Big 78 picks if they survive the journey. I might even try my hand at lame psuedo-journalism with a report posted to this list just before or after the Jun 21 show. Then again, the plane might crash. I do hope there are still some of the Labour "Be very afraid" billboards about when I arrive, the one with that conservative man-child in the Thatcher wig... tom From les_miller@... I remember a track played in the early ninties where the lyrics "freddy jackson" were repeated over a mellow bass line. No idea if that was the name of the track or what the band were called - hence this email. Anyone know what I am talking about? Les. From gforsyth@... Thu Jun 7 22:23:08 2001 From: gforsyth@...
