i understand what is being said here, but i don't think it is a valid
reason to steal intellectual property. if a person enjoys some music, it is
only fair that they pay for that enjoyment, if that is what the artist who
created it wants. musicians have to make a living, and in the case of this
fatcat release, it is hardly a big money spinner..

i think in this case, it would be valid to purchase a copy of the 12" and
then ask someone to make them a CDR / MP3 copy of it, that way they have
supported the artists and they have got the music they want to listen to.
this may sound silly, but so does not owning a record player.

fatcat was started with funding from one little indian.. a major? i dunno.
they are no longer a part of one little indian, although in a few months
time they will be releasing a series of 7" singles of remixes of one little
indian artist, 'emiliana'.. these are fantastic records.. especially the
múm one. these will be available FREE to download in mp3 format from their
forthcoming web site, www.e-rmx.com .. specifically designed for people who
don't have record players.

fatcat have just signed a deal with PIAS, on the strength of sigur ros and
others. fatcat are very much an independent label, and for the people who
run it.. a career.

think about it.
