No, I was astonished too. I've never really rated the Sex Pistols,
but I like some of their stuff. I was also surprised at Atmosphere
being no. 1, but I'm told it used to be no. 1 in the old all-time
Festive 50s. I've never really liked Joy Division that much either.
Anyhow, speaking of the Sex Pistols, we can debate punk bands at
length after next Saturday's Channel 4 Top Ten Punk Bands. Not to
be missed.

Yes, it's great! Possibly my favourite Smiths record. Perhaps not
a great song (if you put it to the old "does it work if you get one
man with an acoustic guitar to perform it?" test it might fall a bit
flat), but it's a fantastic huge powerful rumbling big beastie thing
of a record.
I got the Primal Scream LP at the weekend. Not a band I'd normally
rush out to buy, but it's great, with moments of fantastic huge powerful
rumbling-ness.
