To Rococco Rot did a dj mix. Finally Kurt Warner did a Maida Vale session with Howie Gelb and members of Calexico. All of it was brilliant Details were in the Radio Times, on the Radio 1 website and in my post to the Zapsmart list so it was no secret! So I missed it. Was this not trailed beforehand? All we seem to get on Radio 1 is trailers for Radio 1 shows, and yet I heard nothing about this. And I bet they don't repeat it. I heard a small extract of one of these One World shows that featured the Electrolux(?) label. It was great but I assumed from what I heard that it was purely a techno programme, so hadn't listened again. > I'd really like to no more "Know", not "no". Tsk. Educational standards blah blah blah. The quality is decidedly ropey as the early ones are all tapes of tapes of tapes and they are far from complete. Oh, and another thing: they're all packed up in boxes as I'm in the process of moving house and they're unlikely to be accessible before February at the earliest. So not much good for Christmas I'm afraid (not this year at any rate) but if 12bar or anyone else is interested, please email me off-list & I'll tell you exactly what I have. I'd be most interested in swapping for tapes of this year's F50 as yet again family commitments are taking me abroad at the crucial time. (And anyway my tape player is likewise living in a box at the moment.) I'd also be happy to pay (reasonable) cash for this. The shows I'm particularly interested in are the Tue 19th extravaganza, which sounds fun, and the Boxing Day programme, but anyone prepared to tape the whole shebang for me would earn my eternal gratitude + fair compensation. Your people need you... Yes Candy. I'm still here. Since doing those tapes for you at the start of the year, I've been cataloguing my entire collection. So far I've done over 300 tapes (thats over 6000 tracks and approx 1500 tracks have been entered onto the database). When that's finished I'll be in a position to supply all the requests that keep appearing on this notice board. I can't wait to get it finished as I can then start listening to the 30 + C'D.'s I've bought this year(including the Beefheart limited edition C.D. which was advertised on this board by Rhino Handmade records). I've said this before, but it's nice to think that long after Peel's moved on to other glories his shows could well be accessible via the web someday for decades to come.... shows that were a sonic snapshot in time, yet so decidely un-trendy they are near-timeless. Emergency tape almost kicked in as well during that part of the show when someone guessed a correct answer on the first or second clue and there were moments of silence while Peel read (to himself) the other clues to the band, finishing with "I never knew half of these". > The J Mascis cover of 'Everythig Flows' was pretty great too. I missed the > last 30 minutes of the show, anyting of note happen? Was the section of the quiz with records played at their wrong speeds then, or was that earlier? Enjoyed the bit of slowed down "Trumpton Riots" when the voices started, sounding rather demonic. "I'd play that now!!!!!!!!!!" voiced Peely. So last 30 mins - Bit more of what happened before, Mansun did a cover of "Shot By Both Sides", show finished with "Teenage Kicks". I also enjoyed the quick blast of "In A Rut". I await the new Gary Numan session with some trepidation. I scored 73 in the quiz. dougal mckinnon (d.mckinnon@...) From robfleay@... Thu Dec 21 11:25:56 2000 From: robfleay@... (robfleay@...)
