He's surely talking about PIckled Egg - I felt that their stuff in the
chart wasn't exactly what you'd call 'classic', hardly worthy of appearing
in the F50, not like 'proper' classic stuff like Yeah Yeah Noh, Big Flame
and DatBlygu.
And don't get me started on Bang Bang Machine.
When Simon Mayo 'celebrated' Peel's birthday with a golden year (or
whatever it's called) of former F50 favourites, he naturally went for the
more familiar stuff, which had got in the charts. So we got stuff like
Prince, which actually sullied the F50 a few years back. Can't we have some
sort of revisionism where this kind of stuff is struck from the records,
Soviet-stylee, so that we're not embarassed by it in front of future
generations?
